Tottenham Hotspur defender laments the way they conceded against Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has hit out at the way the team conceded against Manchester United.
Spurs were undone by a winner from Anthony Martial, after Romelu Lukaku had flicked on a long ball from David de Gea.
As the opposite goalkeeper, Lloris was dismayed that Tottenham’s defending was so bad.
He told the Evening Standard: “To lose this game in that way makes us very disappointed because from a long kick from their keeper we should have been more organised.
“We were late [to get organised]. To lose the game on the basics is very frustrating. When you play another [title] challenger, you need to be at your best.”

Lloris of course is not blameless, but the spotlight is on Tottenham’s makeshift defence.
Eric Dier was in there in place of record signing Davinson Sanchez, a surprise selection decision.
Dier did not do too much wrong, but it was the communication between the backline which let Spurs down.

If Sanchez had been in there, a breakdown would have been a lot more unlikely as he has been effective alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
Disrupting a successfully functioning defence against an attack as dangerous as Manchester United’s is asking for trouble.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino, rather than his players, is ultimately to blame for that.
