Tottenham Hotspur made some questionable signings in the summer of 2016.

Spurs winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has endured a miserable debut campaign in the Premier League, and admitted that he has not been strong enough mentally, when speaking to French media outlet L’Equipe during an exclusive interview.

The 22-year-old moved to White Hart Lane from Marseilles in the summer of 2016, under the weight of high expectations, but has failed to deliver thus far, making just six Premier League appearances, with all of those coming from the substitutes bench.

Whether the France under-21 international has much of a future at Tottenham remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, he will have to dramatically improve his performances over the course of the next year if he is too have any chance whatsoever of forging a successful career in a Spurs shirt.

And N’Koudou admitted that the time for excuses has run out, when speaking exclusively to L’Equipe, suggesting that he needs to be mentally stronger if he is to succeed in England:

“I was the problem. Of course it was difficult not to play, especially for someone like me who loves football, but there comes a time when you need to stop making excuses. I spoke about it with my family. I learnt what I was missing. I wasn’t strong enough mentally.”

Whilst he has blistering pace, and possesses a potent delivery, he does seem to be rather lightweight, and will need to bulk up over the summer in order to be able to compete physically in the Premier League.
