Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks showed his outstanding quality once again this week versus Borussia Dortmund.

Winks helped Spurs control the midfield against the Bundesliga leaders, continuing his recent impressive Premier League form.

Tottenham’s midfield injury problems and Mousa Dembele’s departure left Winks as one of the team’s only remaining options.

Winks has really stepped up, showing mental strength to deal with the pressure, as well as his undoubted technical ability.

He has come so far in the past 12 months. This time last season he was struggling for form and fitness.

Winks began the 2017/18 season so well, starring against Real Madrid.

Injury then halted his progress, and when he tried to come back last January, he was off form.

Winks struggled in FA Cup games against lower league opposition and clearly wasn’t right.

It culminated in him missing out on the World Cup.

Now ahead of England naming their squad for next month’s international fixtures, Winks will be one of the first names selected.
