A high volume of Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been disappointed that none of their players made England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Even though Spurs improved under Ange Postecoglou last season, only four of their players made the cut for the European Championships, with only two of them (Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Radu Dragusin), regular starters for their country.
James Maddison missed out on England’s Euro 2024 squad in a brutal fashion and Pedro Porro was also left home by Spain.
But Copa America is where Tottenham fans can have a big smile on their face because they are being repped by one Cristian Romero.
The 26-year-old is a World Cup winner for a reason and he proved that again on Tuesday night when he helped Argentina secure a 1-0 win over Chile.
With a game to spare, they have booked their ticket to the knockout stages and that’s back-to-back clean sheets for Lionel Scaloni’s men.
It needs to be remembered that Argentina are defending their Copa America crown and they are looking to continue their dominance on the international stage.
Romero started the game and played alongside Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez, with the penalty expert Emiliano Martinez in between the sticks.
The Aston Villa man took to Instagram to make his feelings clear on Romero by stating there is no better centre-back in the world than the popular Spurs star.

‘Best centre back in the world,’ wrote Martinez in the comments section of Romero’s IG post, with the player responding by saying ‘The biggest in the world’.
Angel Di Maria also added ‘How do you play, mate?’ and Lisandro Martinez stated: ‘Awesome brother. I love you so much’.
Cristian Romero at Tottenham Hotspur next season
It was Martinez’s Villa that stopped Spurs from earning Champions League football when they took the final fourth spot.
Yes, for a long time now, Spurs have been craving that much-wanted trophy, but they will be aiming to return to the Champions League ahead of the new campaign.

You feel a player like Romero is too good for the Europa League and he needs to get a taste of elite football sooner rather than later.
There are suggestions that Real Madrid are keen on Romero and you feel that type of club will continue to take interest in Romero if he continues to perform in this manner.
