The England international was not interested in heading away for a temporary spell.
England’s Dele Alli
Tottenham Hotspur and England star Dele Alli has been talking to Sky Sports this weekend, ahead of his clubs Super Sunday clash with Manchester City in the Premier League.
The midfielder has been in brilliant form for the past year, ever since joining the club from MK Dons. The youngster, who initially went back out on loan to Milton Keynes, has made his international breakthrough and become one of the Premier League’s more feared players in that time.
Speaking to Sky Sports this weekend he commented on his start to life at White Hart Lane, and how he did not want to go back out on loan last year:
“The last 12 months have been crazy. It feels like so much longer than a year.
“I remember this time last season, I was still just trying to get in the starting 11 and trying to get playing and show what I can do. Things have been crazy ever since.
“When I first joined, everyone talked about me going out on loan but I remember saying to my family when I signed here that I wanted to play. I didn’t really think about going to another club, I wanted to be a Tottenham player and play at Tottenham.”
Of course Alli didn’t and is now an integral member of the Tottenham first-team. He also spoke about how the older players at the club helped him settle in, highlighting the positive atmosphere at the North London club:
“All the older players looked after me, all the youngsters and it was a great set of boys here and they all help each other out so it felt like a good place to be and I’m happy to have joined.”
Tottenham’s Dele Alli arrives for training
Alli is now one of the Premier League’s star midfield operators and will be expected to shine if Spurs are to get anything from today’s fixture against in form Manchester City.
Spurs fans are no doubt pleased that Alli did not head out on loan a year ago.
