The Dane will not be watching the Euros intently after his nation failed to qualify.
Christian Eriksen celebrates after scoring the third goal for Tottenham
Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur’s players will be participating in Euro 2016 this summer. They have three players in the Belgium squad, Hugo Lloris captaining France and a healthy sprinkling of talent in the England squad.
But one man who won’t be on his way to France this summer is Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international will be staying at home after his nation failed to qualify for the tournament.

The Spurs playmaker has now been discussing his plans regarding the Euros this summer – and it does not seem the Tottenham player is that keen on tuning in, as he explained to BT:
“It’s no fun to think about, but on the other hand, it might do us very well to get as far away as possible, so you are not surrounded by it.
“I figure that I should probably see some of the good European Championship matches, which perhaps offer some excitement. There are clashes, I’ll see, and then there are others, I will not see.
“For us on the Danish national team, it’s about to get started in preparing us the best possible World Cup qualifying, and that’s why we are in Japan.”

In particular, he pointed out three teams he will not be watching – the three teams responsible for Denmark’s absence from the tournament:
“Portugal, Albania and Sweden, I do not see how we did not qualify from them.”
Denmark finished third in the qualifying group behind Portugal and Albania whilst Sweden beat them in the play-offs – but he says he no longer thinks about the Sweden defeat:
“It sits not so deep anymore, and maybe it’s mostly for fun, I say it.
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen applauds fans after the game
“In the beginning it was difficult. It was hard to take, but it is a while ago, and now we focus on the future.”
Eriksen was blamed by many Danish fans for their poor form as he struggled to replicate his club form for his nation.
Tottenham Hotspur fans will just hope he comes into the new season fresh and ready to fire Spurs to another title challenge.
