Tottenham Hotspur Dele Alli has told The Telegraph that he regrets what he did to Claudio Yacob last year, but claims he has matured as a result of the incident.

The 21-year-old midfielder was slapped with a three-match ban for punching the West Brom man in the stomach toward the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

It was the youngster’s first season as a Premier League player and it seemed like his temper got the best of him on the night.

Nevertheless, the Tottenham superstar says he felt remorse immediately and claims he learnt from what happened.

“Obviously after the game I regretted that [the Yacob incident] straight away,” Alli told The Telegraph. “It was one of those moments that I have learnt from and I’ve not done anything like that again.”

The Spurs man certainly has a fiery side to his game and that is arguably among the reasons why he is who he is.

He is a big character but the England international must find healthier ways in which to channel aggression because it can make him a target for opposition teams.

Alli could find his passion being exploited as a weakness by the opponent and that is far from ideal for Tottenham and England.
