Tottenham Hotspur can still win trophies this season

Tottenham Hotspur surprised everybody including their own supporters by deciding not to sign a single player in the summer.
Despite a little wobble, Spurs have had a decent start to the season, winning four out of six Premier League games and sitting in fifth position.
Superb performances from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City mean Spurs are chasing, rather than being early pacesetters.
At present they are six points off the top, a figure they don’t want to grow too much between now and 2019.
If they can get to January still six points off the leaders, Tottenham will feel they are still in with a shot of mounting a title challenge.
This is where Tottenham’s board will need to step up, and back manager Mauricio Pochettino in the transfer market.

Spurs are reaping the benefits of Lucas Moura’s January addition, while Liverpool benefitted from a mid-season move for Virgil van Dijk last season.
Tottenham cannot afford to ignore the January transfer window after choosing to sit out the summer one.
An early 2019 spending spree can be a game changer for Tottenham’s season and potentially lead to silverware.
The core of a winning team is already there. Spurs just need that little bit extra to tip them over the edge.
