Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen to bring in the Schalke midfielder in January.

According to The Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Leon Goretzka from Schalke this summer.

Goretzka’s contract with the Bundesliga side finishes at the end of the season, and Schalke have already admitted that he could move on.

The 22-year-old is one of the most in demand midfielders in European football, with Barcelona among the clubs linked.

But Spurs are said to be lining up a January offer, and his arrival at the North London club would really announce them as a major player off the field, as well as on it.

Spurs have proven they belong with Europe’s elite nowadays – after dispatching with Real Madrid comfortably in the Champions League.

And if Tottenham were able to bring in Goretzka, they would prove that they have the pulling power to be able to compete with the very best in the transfer window too.

Tottenham already have a host of hugely talented youngsters in their squd, but Goretzka would immediately become one of Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s most exciting players.
