Davinson Sanchez says he struggled earlier this month to deal with his suspension.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez admits he was feeling ‘despondent’ earlier this month as he served a suspension.
The £42 million club record signing from Ajax was sent off in a 1-1 draw with Watford, and given a three game ban.
Among the games he missed was the defeat to Manchester City, before returning for the victories over Burnley and Southampton.

Sanchez told Tottenham’s official club website: “Of course, it was difficult (to be suspended) because my mentality is always that I try to help the team, I try to help my team-mates and when I don’t play it’s so difficult.
“I felt so despondent because I am a player who finds it tough when I can’t help the coach and the team.
“The red card… I had to be calm and take the decision. I came back in the Saturday game (against Burnley) and I tried to give the most I could in my performance, then we had a big result against Southampton.”

While Spurs struggled against City without Sanchez, and injured colleague Toby Alderweireld, the break may have done him good.
With Spurs playing twice a week since August, Sanchez has barely had a chance to rest since joining, while flying across the world on international breaks has only added to his workload.
He has looked fresh in the past two games upon his return to the side, and while he was feeling despondent at missing out, he has plenty to be positive about heading into 2018.
