Tottenham Hotspur made their first signing on Tuesday, as Wigan Athletic confirmed Alfie Devine’s move.

The Latics are in financial disarray right now, and need to sell in order to raise funds and stay afloat.

Devine was a wanted man despite being just 15, as top clubs saw him as a real talent for the future.

Tottenham have now won the race, and The Independent claim that Spurs have paid just £300,000 to land him.

Devine, formerly of Liverpool, is an Under-16 international and helped Wigan to an FA Youth Cup win over Tottenham in January.

That may have sparked Tottenham’s interest, and they have got their man after Devine’s move was confirmed yesterday.

Wigan fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the news, with some a little frustrated at Tottenham being ‘vultures’ and taking advantage of Wigan’s situation.

Others are ‘gutted’ and admitted that the move ‘hurts’, as they think Devine is an ‘amazing’ prospect with a ‘big future’ ahead of him.
