According to the Daily Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are in competition with five other sides for the signature of Norwich City’s James Maddison.

Tottenham want the attacking midfielder in the summer, but they face rival interest from Arsenal, Everton and Southampton – among others.

Maddison is said to favour a move to a side where he can be assured of first-team chances.

And Spurs surely have an advantage over the chasing pack, if that is the case, as they have developed so many players of late.

Spurs can simply point towards Dele Alli’s progress to convince Maddison that a move to the Lilywhites would be wise.

Alli was only playing League One football, but he was quickly handed a chance and he seized his opportunity.

Alli is now a key player for club and country, and no other side competing for Maddison’s signature can show an example of developing a player in such style.

Spurs should, therefore, feel confident of being able to snap up the Norwich man, who is going to cost around £25 million, according to The Sun.
