Tottenham Hotspur should sell Georges-Kevin N’Koudou in the summer transfer window.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2016. Much was expected of the talented and promising 22-year-old, but his debut season at Tottenham has been forgettable.
N’Koudou, who cost Tottenham £11 million in transfer fees – as reported by Sky Sports – when he moved from Marseille in the summer of 2016, has been nothing more than a squad player this past season.
The former France Under-21 international did not make a single start in the Premier League in 2016-17. The young winger played only 69 minutes in the league, and did not score a single goal or provide one assist.
The Frenchman did suffer from injury problems, but even when fit he did not play to the level he was expected to. Even though N’Koudou’s current contract with Spurs is until June 2021, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, it would make sense for the North London outfit to part company with him in the summer transfer window.
Perhaps Tottenham will not get £11m for N’Koudou, but selling the winger in the summer will mean that they will save money on his wages and also free up a place in the squad for the 2017-18 campaign.
For Spurs to win the Premier League title next season and progress into the knockout stages of the Champions League, they cannot have passengers – and N’Koudou is just that: a passenger.
