While one can understand Spurs’ need to sign a suitable back-up striker and help Harry Kane next season, the Premier League club should not splash the cash on the inconsistent Immobile.
The Italy international striker has been great for Lazio this season, scoring 29 goals and providing nine assists in 32 Serie A appearances, according to WhoScored.
The 28-year-old scored 23 goals and provided three assists in 36 Serie A games for Lazio last season, according to WhoScored.
However, Immobile struggled to make a huge impact at Genoa, failed at Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund, and could manage only a handful of first-team appearances for his first club Juventus.
True, in 2013-14, the striker scored 22 goals in 29 Serie A starts for Torino, but he was a flop at Dortmund when he worked with current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, scoring just three goals in 955 minutes of Bundesliga football, according to WhoScored.
In his entire professional club football career, Immobile has had just three brilliant seasons, and Tottenham cannot be certain that he will manage a fourth, especially in the Premier League and as a back-up.
