Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente left the club last month when his contract expired, but he could reportedly be heading back to North London.
It is fair to say that Fernando Llorente left it to the very end to produce his best form in a Tottenham shirt, as his performances towards the second half of the last campaign will not be forgotten by the fans.
Whilst the Champions League final defeat will hurt the White Hart Lane faithful for some time, the manner in which they reached Madrid will be remembered by all, and Llorente more than played his part – cite Manchester City & Ajax.
That was seemingly meant to be his parting gift to Tottenham, with his contract at the North London club running out at the end of June, but it seems he could be making a return.
The Telegraph are reporting that Spurs are not ruling out the possibility of offering Llorente a return to the club ahead of the new campaign.
There’s no doubt that Llorente was a popular figure at the club, and when Kane got injured, especially last season, he stepped up in those tough moments.
But now that Tottenham are into their new stadium, spending in the transfer market, they are better off moving on from the Spaniard.
It would be a backwards step by the club because they now need players who can seemingly challenge for a starting spot.
That trophy, whichever one it may be, is currently eluding Marucico Pochettino and he needs serious strength in depth if he wants to take that next step.
If he’s unable to do that with a signing in the transfer market then he is better off bringing through a youngster, such as Troy Parrott.
Pochettino has proved the wonders he can work with the youngsters at Spurs, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if a player like Parrott is the next player on Pochettino’s long list of successful youngsters that have come through under his stewardship.
