Tottenham Hotspur would be wise to make a bid for Javier Pastore, following Neymar’s arrival at PSG.

Tottenham Hotspur should consider moving for Javier Pastore, after Neymar took his squad number at Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG have shocked the world of football by completing a deal to sign Neymar from Barcelona, but the Brazilian’s arrival causes its own complications for the French side.

While Neymar will surely be the best player in the league, PSG now have such an abundance of attacking talent that they cannot fit them all into the same team.

Pastore has already been affected by Neymar’s arrival, and has lost his number 10 shirt to the world’s most expensive player.

And Tottenham should now make a move for the talented Argentine, who could fit into their wage structure.

Tottenham are armed with cash, following the sale of Kyle Walker, and Pastore would surely be one of the best players available to them.

According to ESPN, Pastore is on around £55,000-a-week at PSG – which would make him a realistic target to fit in with Spurs.

Tottenham have been chasing Ross Barkley for much of the summer so far, according to the London Evening Standard, but Pastore would be a cheaper alternative – who is currently playing at a higher level.

If the 28-year-old was brought to North London, he could link well with his compatriot, the returning Erik Lamela, and would significantly improve Mauricio Pochettino’s forward options.

And Tottenham should strike quickly to secure Pastore, in a deal which would help cast aside any questions over their ambitions for the season ahead.
