Tottenham Hotspur may have to find a new left-back soon, with Danny Rose’s future at the club looking insecure.
If Danny Rose does leave Tottenham Hotspur in January or at the end of the season, then his ready-made replacement is at Porto in the shape of Alex Telles.
Rose has become renowned as one of the best attacking left-backs in the Premier League, with his pace and energy making him a major threat for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The England international loves to bomb forward and give Spurs another option in attack, and his strong performances have attracted attentions elsewhere.
Rose spoke out in the summer suggesting that his head had been turned by outside interest, and there is a feeling that the 27-year-old’s departure from North London is inevitable.
Whether Rose will leave Spurs in January or at the end of the campaign is unclear, but it would be a surprise if he is still in Pochettino’s squad next term.
If Rose does leave, then finding his replacement could prove difficult, but Porto’s Telles could be the ideal man to fill the void.
Telles has a £35 million release clause at Porto, as reported by the Metro, and Spurs are likely to raise more than that through the sale of Rose.
The Brazilian international also possesses many similar qualities to Rose, with the attacking full-back raising eyes with his performances since a move to Porto.
Telles has claimed seven assists this season, and scored in the Champions League last night, as Porto beat Monaco.
Spurs should now be keeping tabs on the Brazilian, as he could be one of the few players who could replace Rose, without causing Spurs to lose quality at left-back.
