Jake Turner and Paulo Gazzaniga are reportedly on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, but Spurs should target Freddie Woodman of Newcastle United instead.
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has identified the 25-year-old goalkeeper as a back-up to Hugo Lloris.
According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 64, August 6, 2017), Tottenham are interested in recruiting 18-year-old goalkeeper Jake Turner from Bolton Wanderers this summer (click here to read more).
Both Gazzaniga and Turner are good goalkeepers, but if Pochettino is looking for a long-term back-up to Lloris and Michel Vorm who could become the first choice in the coming years, then he should make a move for Freddie Woodman.
Woodman has been at Newcastle United his entire professional club football career so far, but the 20-year-old goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League.
The England Under-21 international, who has had loan spells at Hartlepool United, Crawley Town and Kilmarnock, is quite inexperienced at the moment, but he certainly has the talent and the quality to become a huge success in the Premier League.
Pochettino is a very good coach, and working under the Argentine would only make Woodman a better player in the long run.
Given that Everton and Crystal Palace are interested in Woodman – as reported by The Chronicle – it shows just good the English youngster is and how much potential he has, and Spurs should join the race for the goalkeeper.
