Tottenham Hotspur should make a move for Mikael Lustig of Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Now that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have started talks over the transfer of Kyle Walker, as reported by BBC Sport, it is only a matter of time before an agreement is reached between the two Premier League clubs and the right-back moves to the Citizens.

This means that Tottenham will need to sign a replacement right-back. Kieran Trippier has been handed a new deal and the 26-year-old will be aiming to become the first-choice in that position next season, but one suspects that Spurs will still sign a right-back.

Celtic defender Mikael Lustig would be a smart signing for Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old is one of the best right-backs in the Scottish Premiership and has played over 50 times for the Sweden national football team.

True, the Scottish top flight is not one of the best domestic leagues in Europe, but Lustig’s performances over the past few years have been quite consistent.

There is a reason why the 30-year-old has lasted over five year at Celtic and was handed a new contract in January 2017, as reported by BBC Sport.

Of course, it would be foolish to suggest that Lustig could just walk into the Spurs first team. No, that is not going to happen.

The Sweden international, though, would be an able deputy to Trippier and could push him hard for a place in the Tottenham starting lineup. Moreover, Lustig would not be an expensive signing.
