According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Marseille’s exciting young midfielder Maxime Lopez.

He is a technically gifted central midfielder, and in Spain many already have started comparing him with club legend Xavi Hernandez, because of his playing style.

Mundo claims that in France, he is seen “more like Marco Verratti”, and Samir Nasri. Needless to say, he has a bright future ahead of him.

After emerging from Marseille’s youth academy, the 19-year-old made his senior debut last season. He is so talented that Marcelo Bielsa felt he is good enough to play regularly.

In his first senior season at the club, he made 30 appearances, scoring three goals in the league. And that is precisely why Tottenham Hotspur should make a move for him.

He is a versatile playmaker, capable of fluid movement and intelligent passing. What amazes about him is his tactical discipline – very rare for a young player to show such maturity.
