Tottenham Hotspur could benefit from bringing in Yaya Toure on a free transfer.

Toure has suggested to Sport24 that he would move to a top six team for just £1-a-week, as long as his contract was heavily incentivised – and if that is true, then Spurs would have very little risk over bringing the central midfielder in.
Granted, the transfer would require a big change of policy from Spurs, but Toure could still be a major help to them.

The Ivorian knows exactly how to win trophies, having lifted almost every major piece of silverware at club level.
That experience could be vital to Tottenham’s developing squad, and Toure could still have something to offer on the pitch too.
With Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama both seemingly up for sale, Spurs could need more presence in midfield next season, and Toure would certainly bring that.

Although the former Manchester City man may not have the legs to get around the pitch that he once did, his work-rate has never been a key strength.
And Mauricio Pochettino should seriously consider throwing Spurs’s hat into the ring and attempting to frustrate West Ham in the race to sign the veteran.
