Tottenham Hotspur should consider a swap deal involving Anthony Martial and Eric Dier.

According to reports from The Telegraph, Manchester United have turned their attention to signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Eric Dier.

The report claims that the 23-year-old wants to move to Old Trafford as well, although Spurs insist Dier is not for sale.

The Mirror reported earlier this week that Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United chief Ed Woodward to submit an irresistible offer around £60 million for Dier.

Although Spurs have refused to sell Dier, the north London club should consider selling the England international provided United include Anthony Martial as a part of the deal.

Back in February, The Independent reported that Tottenham were planning to sign Martial this summer.

While the transfer talk surrounding the Frenchman has subdued, it is high time for Mauricio Pochettino to reignite his interest in the exciting 21-year-old forward.

Martial’s Old Trafford future is under serious doubt with Mourinho clearly having reservations over using him as the club’s first choice.

Along with Romelu Lukaku, if United sign another big money forward, it will push Martial further down the pecking order at the club. He could be reduced to bit part roles.

Martial’s talent is unquestionable, and he would add significant depth and quality to the Tottenham side. Adding him to an already star studded forward line including Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen would make Spurs a frightening team in the Premier League.

Dier is a very good player, but can Spurs do without him? Yes, they can.

Tottenham can add a quality defender or a midfielder by using the cash obtained from Dier’s transfer and replenish the void.

It won’t be an ideal scenario, no doubt, but if the deal helps Spurs in landing Martial, then Dier could be worth sacrificing.
