Gareth Bale has announced his retirement and former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Sergio Reguilon has now paid tribute.

Bale confirmed on Instagram on Monday that that he has played his final game for club and country.

The Welshman has decided to call it a day with Los Angeles FC and Wales, bringing an end to a glittering career.

Bale won it all with Real Madrid; three La Liga titles and five Champions Leagues is a quite incredible record, all whilst scoring 106 goals in 258 games.

Bale will go down as one of the greatest British players of all time, possibly even number one having become a global icon.

It’s a little sad that Bale’s last game will be Wales losing 3-0 to England, with the ineffectual Bale taken off at half-time.

Many expected him to retire from international football at that point but Bale has instead called time on his entire career.

Sergio Reguilon sends message to former Tottenham teammate Gareth Bale

Players have been sending in their tributes for Bale after a quite incredible career.

Sergio Reguilon has joined in given that he has a quite special relationship with Bale.

The pair featured together at Real Madrid, losing just three times in their 14 games together in the Spanish capital.

Tottenham then signed both of them together, completing a double deal with Real to sign Reguilon and Bale.

Reguilon and Bale played 22 times together at Tottenham, losing nine times before going their separate ways.

Bale’s retirement will have been a sad moment for Reguilon given their history together and he took to Instagram to send a one-word tribute.

‘Legend’ said Reguilon on Instagram, accompanying his message with a crying emoji and a love heart as he paid respect to a Tottenham legend.

It’s easy to forget that Atletico Madrid defender Reguilon is still actually owned by Tottenham and is currently set to return in the summer.

Reguilon was feeling like many Tottenham fans on Monday though as he showed his love for Bale.
