Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has been linked with a move away, and it still reportedly expected to leave in January.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sell Mousa Dembele in January now, but that could be even more damaging than letting him go this summer.

Dembele’s future at Spurs has been speculated about over the past few months, but it seems that the Belgian is now set to stick around.

That has to be seen as good news for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, as he is such a crucial player.

But the Mail suggest that Dembele will only be at Spurs for another four months.

And losing the powerful midfielder midway through the season could be terrible for Tottenham.

Spurs have made a wonderful start to the campaign, with Dembele proving his worth in their last match against Manchester United.

The midfielder was imperious, as Tottenham picked up an impressive 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

And losing him in mid-season, when his position in Pochettino’s starting line-up looks set to be established, could be a disaster.

It seems highly unlikely that Spurs could buy a player who could immediately slot into their side at the same level of Dembele.

And if Tottenham are pushing for a top four spot, or even the title, then Dembele’s potential departure in January could really derail their progress.
