Tottenham Hotspur are now looking towards Lens star Seko Fofana as they look to secure a new midfield addition this summer.

Tottenham brought in Rodrigo Bentancur in January and also have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks.

Add in that Pape Matar Sarr is heading back to Tottenham this summer and you can question whether Tottenham need to push for another midfielder.

Yet reports continue to link Tottenham with a new midfielder and Fofana is the latest name to be touted.

Jeunes Footeux in France report that Tottenham really like Fofana and actually scouted him in action on Sunday.

Lens were superb as they secured a 3-0 home win over Nice, running out victors in a bad-tempered affair that featured three red cards.

Fofana captained Lens to a fine victory, with Franck Haise’s side sitting eighth in the Ligue 1 table.

Fofana is their star performer and Lens are likely to lose the Ivorian star at the end of the season – especially with Tottenham now in the race too.

The 26-year-old spent three years on the books at Manchester City after joining from Lorient in 2013, but was sold to Udinese in 2016.

Lens swooped in 2020, handing Paris-born Fofana a return to France and he just hasn’t looked back since.

A strong midfielder and fine dribbler, Fofana can carry the ball through the middle of the park in a style more reminiscent of Yaya Toure than Mousa Dembele.

Tottenham may feel that Fofana can provide that drive up the pitch alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and he has even been compared to Patrick Vieira.

Leeds United and Newcastle United are both understood to be keen on Fofana too, but Tottenham could blow them out of the water – especially if they secure Champions League football.
