Earlier this week, The Independent reported that Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a move for the Borussia Dortmund defender, Matthias Ginter, in the summer transfer window.

The versatile German player is said to be open to leaving the Bundesliga giants, and would be available for around £15 million.

It seems the Spurs have really stepped up their interest, with the Evening Standard reporting Spurs scouts presence on the stands to keep an eye on Ginter, who was playing for Germany against Denmark.

Ginter was involved for 66 minutes during the friendly match in Copenhagen, which ended 1-1.

The report says that the Spurs have received encouragement with the possibility of Ginter considering a move abroad. The player is intrigued by the idea of playing in a new league.

The defender has two years remaining on his current deal, and earns little less than £30,000 per week. It won’t be a problem for the Spurs to match his wages, but he is valued at around £17.5 million.

Mauricio Pochettino could be looking to reshuffle his defence, with Kyle Walker expected to leave, and the futures of Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld is seemingly uncertain.

Ginter can cover Walker and Alderweireld’s positions as well as in central midfield, and would be a terrific addition to the squad.
