Tottenham Hotspur are expecting to sign goalkeeper Sam Johnstone – and West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Bruce accepts he is leaving.
Johnstone is out of contract at the end of the season. There has been absolutely no indication that Johnstone is interested in staying and can you blame him?
Johnstone is an England international who has high-level aspirations and doesn’t want to be stuck in the Championship.
West Brom are nowhere near promotion this season and who knows if they can even get back on track under Bruce next season.
Bruce’s appointment may have given fans some hope of Johnstone staying given that the pair worked together at Aston Villa.
Unfortunately for the Baggies though, Johnstone just doesn’t want to stay at The Hawthorns and is set to go.
Manager Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that Johnstone is more than likely ‘going to leave’ this summer.
Bruce added that West Brom aren’t exactly happy about losing their biggest asset for nothing, but there is seemingly little they can do now.
“The likelihood is that Sam is going to leave,” “We’re probably going to lose our biggest asset on a Bosman, which is not great for everybody,” he said.

Everything seems to point towards Johnstone being bound for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Football London claim that Tottenham are favourites to sign Johnstone, with Spurs wanting him to offer competition for Hugo Lloris.
The Sun add that Tottenham are ‘increasingly confident’ that Johnstone will be joining them this summer despite interest from elsewhere.
The 29-year-old may be seen as the long-term heir to Lloris having already impressed in the Premier League with West Brom.
Homegrown and available for free, Johnstone seems to be an ideal signing for Tottenham but whether he can really become first-choice remains to be seen.
