Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is ‘very excited’ by the prospect of working with Antonio Conte after finalising his move last week.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that Bentancur is buzzing with his move and the chance to play for Conte.

Bentancur made his Tottenham debut in the FA Cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday evening, coming on as a substitute.

The Uruguayan looked very good, and wowed fans with one superb moment as he danced past Evan Ferguson with a nonchalant piece of skill.

Bentancur is now in contention for a first start under Conte on Wednesday night when Tottenham take on Southampton.

Whether that happens remains to be seen, but Bentancur is seemingly excited just to be a Tottenham Hotspur player.

It’s stated that Bentancur thinks Conte will be perfect for his development, and he is therefore excited to be working with the Italian.

Additionally, Bentancur allegedly feels that the Premier League will be absolutely ideal for his game, breaking up play and moving the team forward.

Uruguayans have a mixed history in the Premier League, with Diego Forlan and Lucas Torreira struggling, but Luis Suarez and Gus Poyet excelled.

Bentancur is excited to work under Conte and you can only imagine that the feeling is very much mutual.

Conte loves passion and work rate, demanding those things from his players; that’s why Tanguy Ndombele isn’t at Tottenham now.

Bentancur comes from Uruguay, where ‘garra charrua’ is the key phrase in football.

Garra charrua is described by Forlan as wanting to give more even when you can’t breathe anymore, showing courage and fight until the very end.

Has there ever been a better description of what Conte expects?

Uruguayans like Martin Caceres, Diego Godin and Matias Vecino have all played under Conte before, with Bentancur joining the list.

This looks like a match made in heaven, with Bentancur likely to emerge as a key man for Tottenham in the coming months and years.
