According to The Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton believe that Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly is out of their price range.

The report has claimed that Napoli want £100 million as transfer fee for Koulibaly, and has quoted the Italian club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli as saying that they will not sell the Senegal international on the cheap.

It has been claimed that Spurs and Everton now believe that they cannot afford the 28-year-old central defender.

However, according to the report, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain still remain interested in the former Genk defender.

Missing out

Koulibaly – described by his former Napoli teammate Pepe Reina as “extraordinary” to TMW – is one of the best central defenders in the world, and there is no doubt that he would make Tottenham and Everton a better team.

With Spurs and the Toffees aiming to challenge for the Champions League places in the coming years, the experience and calibre of the Senegalese would be great for the clubs.

According to WhoScored, Koulibaly has made 14 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A and has played six times in the Champions League for Napoli so far this season.
