Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon to take on Liverpool in a crucial Premier League showdown.

The Premier League’s finishing line is edging ever closer and there is no bigger game this weekend than Liverpool’s home clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Before the international break, Spurs suffered a costly 2-1 defeat at Southampton, which put their top-four status under more threat.

But ahead of their visit to Anfield on Sunday, manager Mauricio Pochettino could make a number of changes to the team that started at St Mary’s a number of weeks ago.

One player that could potentially return to the starting fold is the hardly-seen Victor Wanyama, who has the capabilities of dominating the ball in the middle of the park, not forgetting that he scored a stunning strike the last time he played against the Reds.

Over the course of the season, the defensive-minded player has only been on the field for 215 minutes in the Premier League, with injuries playing a big part in his lack of game time [transfermarkt].

Nonetheless, if Wanayma does come into the team then he will more than likely come in for Eric Dier, with Heung-Min Son possibly coming in for Dele Alli to provide the team with more natural width.

Added with that right-back Kieran Trippier missed the Saints clash last time out and it won’t be a surprise to see the England man replace Kyle Walker-Peters in the starting XI.

The experienced Toby Alderweirield could also return, with the Belgian having the capabilities of providing his team with calmness at the back.

Either way, whatever happens at the weekend, dropped points could prove to be very costly for either team in their race to win the title and secure a Champions League place, respectively.
