Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso believes that defender Cristian Romero is by far the best player at the club.

Tottenham fans are loving life under Ange Postecoglou.

After the fairly conservative reigns of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air.

The Australian is gung-ho in his approach and Tottenham have been hugely impressive under Postecoglou despite a number of injury problems throughout the campaign.

Postecoglou is blessed with some quality players in the Spurs squad, but Giovani Lo Celso is in no doubt over Tottenham’s best player…

Giovani Lo Celso raves about Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero

Lo Celso has spoken to Tottenham’s official YouTube channel, answering questions from Spurs fans.

The midfielder was asked who the thinks the best player in the Tottenham squad is – and he went with compatriot Romero.

Lo Celso suggested that he has thought of Romero as Tottenham’s best player ever since he arrived and will ‘keep saying it’.

Lo Celso praised Romero for how he has integrated at Tottenham and believes there is much more to come from the defender moving forward.

“For me it’s Cristian Romero,” said Lo Celso. “I’ve said it since the day he arrived and I’ll keep saying it. I was surprised from the first day, first in the national team and then here at the club. The way he integrated and his performance here at the club is still surprising. He deserves everything he has got up to here and everything he will get,” he added.

Many Tottenham fans would probably go with captain Son Heung-min as the best player in the Spurs squad but Lo Celso is absolutely sure that it’s Romero.

The Argentinian World Cup winner is a truly outstanding centre back but his rash challenges can sometimes get him into trouble.

Taking that edge out of Romero’s game may impact Romero’s game, but Postecoglou would surely love to see him avoid issues with referees going forward.

Romero needs to be wary too; he now has a quality partner in Micky van de Ven, but also a top young talent pushing for a starting role in new signing Radu Dragusin.

Romero is under pressure to perform as Spurs do have other options, but he is certainly Tottenham’s best option when at his best.
