Pep Guardiola has hailed Tottenham Hotspur target Roberto De Zerbi having been dazzled by his football at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Brighton faced plenty of interest in Graham Potter before losing him to Chelsea back in September.

The Seagulls then secured Roberto De Zerbi and it looks like there will be even more interest in the Italian moving forward.

The Telegraph claim that De Zerbi will be on a list of managerial candidates considered by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Antonio Conte looks set to leave Tottenham this summer and Spurs may go for another Italian to replace him.

De Zerbi has continued Potter’s great work and now has Brighton just six points behind Tottenham with two games in hand.

It’s a big ask for Brighton to secure European football but at this point, why not dream?

De Zerbi’s style of play has been earning praise throughout his team at Brighton, bringing his ideas from Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk to the South Coast.

Tottenham fans would no doubt love to see that kind of football in North London, especially after seeing Conte’s style of play.

De Zerbi has now been praised by the big boss of beautiful football – Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester City boss has told Sky Italia that he thinks De Zerbi is playing ‘wonderful football’ at Brighton.

De Zerbi has been playing a 4-2-3-1 at Brighton and the build-up play from centre backs into midfield has been hugely impressive.

Guardiola has been dazzled by De Zerbi’s approach and has now heaped praise on the Italian.

“Here we have De Zerbi who is changing many things in English football, playing wonderful football,” said Guardiola whilst noting that this kind of approach was seen as impossible in English football once upon a time.

De Zerbi won’t exactly be rushing to leave Brighton but if an offer comes from Tottenham, he may well be tempted by the move.

Conte’s future isn’t settled yet but De Zerbi seems to be a prime contender if and when his compatriot does leave Spurs.
