Tottenham Hotspur want Pedro Porro but are now cooling their interest in the Sporting Clube de Portugal star due to his asking price.
Reports from the Daily Star over the weekend suggested that Tottenham were closing in on the signing of Porro.
It was claimed that Tottenham were close to completing a £35million deal for Porro and boss Antonio Conte expected a deal to be done this week.
That was all pretty exciting stuff but Tottenham fans hoping to see a new face arrive in the coming days may be left very disappointed.
Sky Sports claim that Tottenham have now ‘cooled’ their interest in signing Porro due to Sporting’s hefty demands.
Sporting are insisting that Tottenham pay Porro’s £40million release clause in full, with no discounts – not even £5million.
Tottenham do want Porro but cannot advance talks with Sporting whilst they stick to these demands.

Tottenham’s right wing back situation remains a mess amid Pedro Porro disappointment
If Tottenham can’t get Porro signed this month – and it’s starting to sound like they won’t – then Spurs fans will be increasingly annoyed at the right wing back situation.
Tottenham tied themselves to Antonio Conte in November of 2021, so they knew that they had to focus on wing backs going forward.
Yet Spurs then went and signed Djed Spence, a player Conte didn’t ask for and hasn’t even trusted enough to start a single Premier League game this season.
Emerson Royal isn’t cut out for a wing back role yet remains at the club whilst Conte would surely like more quality than Matt Doherty can provide.
If Tottenham come out of another transfer window with Emerson and Doherty as their main wing backs with Spence either on the fringes or out on loan, Spurs fans will be hugely annoyed – and so will Conte.
Whether it’s Porro or somebody else, Tottenham need to have their star right wing back in place soon or risk angering their boss.
