Tottenham Hotspur want Pedro Porro and Sporting boss Ruben Amorim believes that the right wing back belongs at a top club.
This transfer saga feels like it has been going on for weeks now.
Tottenham have been linked with Porro for a while but haven’t been able to strike a deal.
Reports from the Daily Star earlier this month suggested that Spurs were closing in on the signing of Porro in a £35million deal.
Sky Sports then claimed that Tottenham had ‘cooled’ their interest in Porro due to Sporting’s £40million demands, though Portuguese newspaper Record suggest that Spurs are willing to nearly treble Porro’s wages.
It’s clear that Tottenham do want Porro but it all seems to be coming down to the price tag.
Add in that Tottenham still have three right wing backs of their own in Matt Doherty, Emerson Royal and Djed Spence and this deal looks tricky.

Sporting boss hails Tottenham target Pedro Porro
Sporting just aren’t budging at the moment and are sticking to the £40million in Porro’s release clause.
The Spaniard, formerly of Manchester City, has been in great form this season with 10 assists and two goals in 22 games for Sporting.
Porro, 23, appears to perfectly fit the bill for Tottenham but Sporting, who lost the likes of Joao Palhinha and Matheus Nunes over the summer, are in no mood to lose another key player.
Sporting boss Ruben Amorim has now spoken about pro and the ongoing rumours surrounding a move to Tottenham.
Amorim has told Record that his players are used to the speculation but that it does affect them a little.
Amorim added that Porro will always play for big clubs in his career, but feels that Sporting are a big club themselves and there is no need to move.
The Portuguese coach claims Porro is ‘happy’ at Sporting, sounding like a manager who isn’t expecting to lose his star right wing back to Tottenham any time soon.
“The players are used to it,” said Amorim. “I was also a player and I know that these are complicated phases, but it’s a good complication. Worse are those who are about to be released. Porro’s future will always be a big club, but he’s already at a big club. He is happy at Sporting, but when the market is open and there are clubs making proposals… of course that affects the players,” he added.
