Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici has claimed that he has no interest in a deal for Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic.
Tottenham seem to have been linked with Brozovic regularly ever since his time at Dinamo Zagreb.
Call him something of an even more modern version of Leandro Damiao.
The latest Brozovic rumour emerged in August. Inter Live reported that Paratici was keen to bring Brozovic to North London.
The Croatian is an appealing option heading into 2022 thanks to his contract situation. Brozovic is out of contract at the end of the season, with no new agreement found yet.
That means Brozovic could be a cut-price signing in January, or sign for free in the summer of 2022.
Paratici knows all about the Italian transfer market, and is no doubt aware of Brozovic’s contract situation.
Speaking on Sunday, Paratici suggested – as quoted by Fabrizio Romano – that he is not looking to sign Brozovic on a free transfer.
Paratici claims that Brozovic isn’t even a topic of discussion at Tottenham, completely ruling out a move.
Brozovic is a quality midfield player and served as the midfield maestro in Inter’s title win last season.
Maybe he isn’t quite the profile Tottenham need now. They have combative and hard-working midfielders in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.
If Tottenham are to bring in another midfielder, it would surely be a creative player or number 10, rather than another holder like Brozovic.
You have to take Paratici for his word, so don’t expect to see Brozovic at Tottenham any time soon.
