Tottenham Hotspur are expecting a swift answer from Lewes having made a bid for winger Ollie Tanner, with a board meeting set for Thursday.
That’s according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that Tottenham have now made a bid for Tanner.
Tanner has been training with Tottenham for two weeks and has seemingly impressed Chris Powell in the Spurs developmental ranks.
Tottenham haven’t yet met the asking price for Tanner, and Lewes are allegedly holding a board meeting on Thursday to decide on Tanner’s future.
Brighton and Hove Albion were keen too, but now appear to be out of the race.
The Argus noted that Lewes were considering pulling Tanner out of Tuesday’s game with Cray Wanderers ahead of a transfer.
However, Tanner started and played 87 minutes in a 2-0 victory for Lewes.
Tanner, 19, has impressed for Lewes this season, sparking lofty Premier League interest as a result.
Tanner spent his formative years in the Arsenal ranks, meaning Tottenham signing him would see the wide man return to North London.
After a spell with Bromley, Tanner moved on to Lewes and hasn’t looked back since.
That Tanner has impressed alongside Tottenham’s under-23’s says a lot; he probably belongs at a higher level than the Isthmian League Premier Division.
Tanner’s move won’t quite make headlines like Luis Diaz, but Tottenham will still be hoping to get his move sorted in the coming days.
Tanner would seemingly join the Tottenham ranks to replace Dilan Markanday, who left Spurs for Blackburn Rovers last week.
Tottenham should learn more about their move tomorrow, with Lewes unlikely to stand in Tanner’s way ahead of a potential life-changing Premier League move.
