Tottenham Hotspur Managing Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, appreciates Arsenal target and Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, according to Fabrizio Romano in CaughtOffSide.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Tottenham official Paratici has always appreciated former Manchester United forward Depay.

Romano has added that Tottenham have not made an offer for the Netherlands international, who has been linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal as well in the summer transfer window.

Sport reported on June 24 that Arsenal are interested in the Dutchman.

The same Spanish publication reported over the weekend that Tottenham are working the hardest to get a deal done for Depay.

Romano told CaughtOffSide about Depay: “There have been talks in recent days where Barcelona have communicated to Memphis Depay that Xavi would count on him if he stayed, but he would have little space in the rotations because there are so many new signings. Barca would be ready to let Depay leave on very favourable terms.

“The decision will be made by the player, Memphis will choose based on the offers. There is no proposal yet from Tottenham so far despite so many rumours – Depay has always been appreciated by Spurs director Fabio Paratici, but no proposals have been submitted so far.”

Transfer saga

In our view, speculation on the future of Memphis Depay is going to drag for weeks now.

We do not think that Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur will be able to strike a deal with Barcelona over Depay right now.

The Dutchman does not seem to be in a hurry to leave Barcelona, who are willing to sell the 28-year-old for €20 million (£17 million) (Sport).

Arsenal did sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City this summer, but the Gunners could do with another forward to give manager Mikel Arteta another option in attack.
