Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Charlie Wellens from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

The British tabloid has claimed that Tottenham wanted to sign the 19-year-old when Jose Mourinho was in charge of Spurs.

Mourinho is long gone from Tottenham, but the North London club are still interested in the young midfielder.

The Portuguese boss is now at AS Roma, and he is still keen on the teenage midfielder.

Could Tottenham sign Charlie Wellens from Manchester United?

Wellens is a very talented and promising young midfielder who is rated very highly at Manchester United.

The midfielder has a very good passing range, and he scores as well.

The Sun have claimed that Wellens has scored one goal and provided three assists in 14 matches for the Manchester United Under-23 side so this season.

It is clear that Wellens is one for the future, and we think that Tottenham and Roma are looking at him as a player when could develop in the coming years rather than one who is ready for the first team now.

In our view, it is not going to be easy to snap up Wellens from Manchester United.

After all, the Red Devils are one of the biggest clubs in the world and will not want to lose as talented a player as Wellens.
