According to Cadena COPE Tottenham are interested in signing Alvaro Morata as the signing of Dusan Vlahovic is likely to push Morata down the pecking order at Juventus.
Morata is currently on loan at Juve, but he could swap Turin for north London if reports are to be believed.
This is seemingly a very credible rumour. After all, Antonio Conte has signed Morata on two occasions in the past, for both Juventus and Chelsea.
Morata is seemingly a fan of Conte too. After joining Chelsea, he claimed that he joined because of the Italian, while he also said that he was in debt to Conte from his first spell at Juventus.
What’s Morata said about Conte?
The striker spoke about the manager after he joined Chelsea.
“I came here because there was a coach like Antonio Conte. We started talking about my eventual transfer last spring and I finally came to London,” Morata told Gazetta dello Sport.
“I’m in debt with Conte. He had taken me for Juve and then left for Italy. When I knew he wanted me, I didn’t think twice.”
Still indebted
Morata said that he was in debt to Conte when he joined Chelsea, and to be honest, there’s an argument to be made that he still is.
Conte has shown a lot of faith in Morata throughout his career, but the Spaniard is yet to really pay any of that back.
As Morata said, Conte left Juventus before he got the chance to really play under him, while he wasn’t brilliant at Chelsea.
If Morata is to reunite with Conte for a third time, he really needs to repay the faith that has been shown in him.
