Peterborough United are attempting to sign Luke McGee from Tottenham Hotspur.

Peterborough United boss Grant McCann has told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that Luke McGee is desperate to move to the ABAX Stadium, but Tottenham Hotspur are proving difficult to negotiate with.

McGee spent last season on loan at Posh, and impressed hugely for the League One side.

The young stopper won Peterborough’s Players’ Player of the Season award, and was a mainstay in McCann’s side.

Posh are now bidding to sign McGee from Spurs on a permanent deal, but Daniel Levy is proving to be elusive.

McCann claims that Tottenham are simply not returning Peterborough’s calls, as they try to do a deal for the 21-year-old.

“We are still talking to Tottenham, but we aren’t getting anywhere close with that one,” McCann said.

“I actually saw Luke on my break, and he’s desperate to come back to us, but Tottenham aren’t picking up the phone at the minute… not giving us any indication over what fee they want, or when they will let him out on loan.”

McGee is yet to make an appearance for Spurs’ senior side, and his chances of breaking through in the near future with Mauricio Pochettino’s side appear slim.

McGee is currently behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in the pecking order at Spurs.

If McGee does join Posh, it would be a major boost for McCann’s side – as they aim to win promotion from League One next term.
