The door may be open for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United to target Yannick Carrasco again as he considers leaving Atletico Madrid.
Spanish newspaper Marca have been discussing Carrasco’s future and how he may now be looking to leave the Spanish side.
It’s stated that Carrasco is upset because a proposed new contract never materialised, and that may tempt him into leaving.
Carrasco allegedly spoke to boss Diego Simeone in recent days, with the Atletico boss keen to find out just how committed the Belgian is to the project in Madrid.
Yet it’s added that Carrasco rejected both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the last January market but would now be inclined to say yes to a Premier League move.
Carrasco allegedly feels that he is now set for the last big contract of his career and having been let down over a potential renewal, is considering leaving.
Carrasco turns 30 in September 2023 and may feel that the window for a Premier League move is closing rapidly.

Newcastle and Tottenham surely still fancy Carrasco
It’s clear that this hasn’t really been Carrasco’s best season.
One goal and no assists in 13 La Liga games means Atletico may well be tempted to offload the wide man should offers come their way.
The Belgian wide man has just 18 months left on his Atletico deal and the time may be right for him to leave.
Mundo Deportivo reported in November that Newcastle have a ‘clear run’ at signing Carrasco with Atletico looking to sell.
The Telegraph noted late in August that Tottenham were chasing a deal for Carrasco but gave up amid a demand for his full £51million release clause.
Capable of playing as a winger or as a wing back, we can absolutely see why Tottenham and Antonio Conte would be keen on signing Carrasco.
That versatility makes him somewhat similar to Ivan Perisic and we already know how much Conte loves the Croatian.
Hailed as an ‘incredible’ dribbler by Simeone, Carrasco has proven his quality both on and off the ball for years now and it would be a surprise if Newcastle and Tottenham didn’t make new moves in 2023.
