Tottenham Hotspur expect Newcastle United to make a bid for Dele Alli in the final days of the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail have reported that Newcastle want to sign Alli from Premier League rivals Tottenham this month.

Spurs reportedly think that the Magpies will make a move for the 25-year-old England international midfielder.

Newcastle want to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, but that deal is continuing to falter.

Alli is an alternative to fellow English midfielder Lingard for Newcastle.

Should Tottenham offload Dele Alli to Newcastle?

In our view, Tottenham should keep hold of Alli and not offload him to Newcastle, unless, of course, they got offered a very good transfer fee.

We do not think that there is any point in Spurs loaning out the 25-year-old midfielder in the January transfer window.

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte needs a big squad in his quest to get the club back into the Champions League.

Now, of course, we know that Alli is not getting much playing time at the moment, but we have seen how Premier League teams are being affected by COVID-19.

So, in our opinion, Alli could come handy for Tottenham in the coming weeks and months.

Alli has made eight starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season.

The former MK Dons midfielder has scored one goal in those games.
