The pair are team-mates for the French national team.
France’s players Paul Pogba and Moussa Sissoko during training
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has come to the defence of his international colleague and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
This summer saw Manchester United break the transfer record to sign the Frenchman from Juventus. But so far he has struggled to live up to the price-tag at Old Trafford and his form for France has also been poor in recent times.
Sissoko on the other hand has been in great form for Les Bleus and has looked a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur since his deadline day switch from Newcastle United.
France’s Paul Pogba
Speaking to Le Figaro Sport the Tottenham player has come out in support of the Manchester United superstar.
Sissoko had this to say after France’s comfortable win against Bulgaria:
“In the group, we are very happy to have him with us, very happy with what he does and it shows on the field.
“Journalists may be making too much of it. He had a big transfer this summer, all it does is detailed under the microscope.
“But do not forget that he’s still a young player.
“The most important is to be trusted, he does well in the group. After that, it can be said around, it does not matter to him and it matters little to us.”
Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko heads at goal
Whilst Pogba was a mega signing for United, Sissoko was certainly an equivalent when it comes to the often frugal Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
At the moment, based on their most recent performances, there is little to suggest that Pogba is £50 million a better player than Tottenham’s newbie.
Spurs fans will hope that trend continues.
