Tottenham Hotspur still need a striker despite Lucas Moura’s imminent signing.

It looks like Lucas Moura might well be on his way to joining Tottenham Hotspur.
The Paris Saint-Germain winger was photographed in London today after travelling from France on the Eurostar (Daily Mail) and it seems only a matter of time before Spurs announce what could be a £22 million deal.

Lucas is no doubt an exciting player but Tottenham really should be looking at following up his prospective signing by getting a top-drawer striker through the doors as well. They need one.
Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Newport County exposed Fernando Llorente in a major way and surely it’s negligent by manager Mauricio Pochettino if he does not sign an ugprade before Wednesday’s deadline.

Of course, Pochettino has left it pretty late, but Llorente’s inadequacies were obvious long before the transfer window even opened, having only scored twice in 22 games, and the Lilywhites manager has nobody to blame but himself if the Spaniard’s deficiencies cost Tottenham this season, like how Vincent Janssen held them back last term.
As outstanding as Harry Kane is, the North Londoners will need a plan-b option in big games from now until the end of the season and if Llorente can’t do it against Newport then how can he do it against, say, Juventus?
The excitement over Lucas will act as a distraction, but once the smoke clears, questions should be asked of Pochettino if Llorente is still Tottenham’s best alternative to Kane from now until May.
