Some Tottenham Hotspur youngsters have not developed quite as hoped this season.
Tottenham Hotspur must have concerns over three of their most promising youngsters right now.
Harry Winks, Josh Onomah and Marcus Edwards were all regarded as the next batch of players to become stars in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team, but there are doubts over all three currently.
Winks was in wonderful form earlier this campaign, and he quickly built a reputation for himself.
The 23-year-old broke into Tottenham’s line-up and looked at home against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Winks even started for England, but injury struck at exactly the wrong time, and has badly impacted on his form.
Winks has looked shaky since returning, and while he may well return to his best in future, there is no obvious route for him back into Tottenham’s team at this moment in time.
The story is very different for Onomah and Edwards, who are yet to prove themselves at first-team level.
Onomah and Edwards were both sent out on loan spells this season, to Aston Villa and Norwich City respectively, but neither have developed as hoped.
Onomah played fairly regularly for Villa over the early part of the campaign, but failed to hold down a place and faced criticism over his attitude from Villa fans.
Edwards has also faced scrutiny of his performances in training at Norwich.
The Canaries boss has called out the youngster publicly, and still not given him any game-time.
And Spurs now need to have concerns over three of their prospects for differing reasons, as their futures are not looking quite as bright right now.
