Tottenham Hotspur should revisit interest in Timo Werner.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane had a troublesome end to 2019 with injuries and form leaving him open to criticism.
Spurs need to provide Kane with extra competition, and give him more of a break.
That’s why it makes more sense than ever for Spurs to potentially revisit their interest in Timo Werner.
BILD reported back in January that Tottenham were monitoring Werner.
Since then the trail has gone cold, despite the player’s lack of willingness to commit to RB Leipzig.
This weekend his manager Ralf Rangnick told Kicker: “Timo is of the opinion that he does not want to extend the contract.
“So far, no club has reported their interest or said they would speak with Timo and want to sign him.”
Werner scored 16 goals last season for Leipzig and provided seven assists.
He can play wide on the left of an attacking three, meaning he could line up alongside Kane for Tottenham instead of simply being a deputy like Fernando Llorente was.
The 23-year-old is an exciting talent and the lack of movement from teams for him so far is bizarre.
The situation is set up perfectly for Tottenham to revisit their interest, even with a low offer, and bring in a player who can help Harry Kane in both the short term, and to prolong his career.
