Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with Colombian midfielder Wilmar Barrios in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur almost signed Wilmar Barrios during the summer transfer window, if reports are to be believed, and Mauricio Pochettino must be gutted that they didn’t get a deal done now.
Boca were looking for £25 million for the defensive midfielder, The Sun claim, but Spurs did not manage to get the transfer over the line.
And, right now, Pochettino must be regretting not pushing harder to sign the tough-tackling midfielder.
Tottenham did not even make one new addition over the summer transfer window, and they have been left exposed because of their failure to recruit.
Spurs have looked particularly weak in midfield, where none of Pochettino’s options seem to be working.

Harry Winks has struggled since returning from injury, Eric Dier has been well off the pace, and even Mousa Dembele hasn’t been at the top of his game.
Barrios could have offered Spurs the steel that they have desperately been lacking, had he been snapped up, and it may just be that failing to sign the Colombian was Tottenham’s biggest error of the summer transfer window.
