Tottenham’s move for Matthias Ginter is under threat from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Matthias Ginter has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but their prospects of landing the German are under threat from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

The Guardian reported last month that Spurs are keen on the defender and were weighing up a £15 million bid.

Spurs maintain interest report German newspaper Die Welt, but Gladbach’s interest is serious.

Gladbach have had Chelsea defender Andreas Christiansen on loan at the club for the past two years but this deal has now expired and they are seeking out a replacement, and have Ginter identified.

Die Welt report Ginter could be keen on signing for Gladbach, because of the chance to play first team football in a World Cup year.

Ginter could get chances at Spurs too, but it would be dependent on Mauricio Pochettino playing with three at the back, with Belgian duo Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen unlikely to be displaced.

Adding further fuel to the Gladbach rumours is their midfielder Christoph Kramer, who told Sport BILD he is trying to persuade Ginter to join him at the club, after spending time together at the Confederations Cup.

He said: “I’ll call him tomorrow, when all the chaos is over. I would be glad if he would come to us.”

BILD report that new Dortmund coach Peter Bosz is planning for life without Ginter this coming season.
