Tottenham Hotspur made a move yesterday to attempt to sign Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, according to The Mirror.

The transfer deadline passes at 11pm tonight and Spurs are running out of time to do a deal, but if they can push on for Gray then it will be worth the wait.

The Foxes reportedly want £30 million for his signature, which would hand them a substantial profit on the fee they paid Birmingham 18 months ago.

Gray is still a raw prospect at 21-years-old, but he would be a potentially outstanding fit for the Lilywhites.

The versatile winger can play on either flank or behind the striker, and at the recent under-21 European Championships, he played as a lone striker and scored.

Spurs have not yet signed an attacking player this transfer window, and have missed out on rumoured targets Keita Balde, Bruma, Douglas Costa and Wilfried Zaha, who have all made moves or signed contract extensions.

Gray may not have contributed like a £30 million player over the past year, but he would argue this is because he has been denied the opportunity.

Once again he has been stuck behind Riyad Mahrez in the pecking order at Leicester, and has played only 32 minutes of football this season.

Tottenham are crying out for a wide player who can run with the ball and can change games, and Gray can be the answer.

It is now up to Spurs to present Leicester with an offer they cannot refuse.
