According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are tracking Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Spurs are said to have been impressed by Lascelles’ performances for Newcastle this term, and they are now considering bringing the centre-back in over the summer.

If Lascelles was to move to Tottenham, the switch could be perfect for his development.

Lascelles has unquestionably improved massively under the stewardship of Rafael Benitez and Newcastle, but if he was to move to Spurs then he would be nurtured further.

Tottenham have the best track record of any of the top four sides at developing young, English talent.

And if Lascelles could continue to improve at Spurs, he would be a fine addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Lascelles has proven himself to be a leader at Newcastle, and he has also been a key reason why Benitez’s side look set to avoid relegation this term.

Newcastle don’t want to lose Lascelles, and they have put a £30 million price-tag on him, according to the Daily Mirror, but interest is mounting in the centre-back.

If Lascelles was to be brought in at Spurs, he could be thrown straight in at the deep end, as it appears that Pochettino’s side are looking out for replacements for Toby Alderweireld, who could depart in the summer.
